Example: Absence of know-how is ignorance but ignorance does not exist by itself. It is like darkness. The significance of ignorance being named ‘sakti’ or ‘power’.

Sakti is electric power. Ignorance is called as ‘sakti’ that means the electricity of the ‘Self’ to make it look deluded. This appears absurd but the next illustration describes it well.

The two powers of ignorance/ajana are: avarna-sakti and viksepa sakti – the veiling and projecting powers. They not only veil the fact of the ‘Self’ they also superimpose the ‘Self’ with a untrue identification.
