A Basic Golf Swing Lesson For Increasing Distance

Here’s a simple golf swing lesson to increase distance for your driver and irons. Let’s break this lesson down into 3 parts, each as important as the previous. Putting all 3 things together will have you hitting the ball further, and straighter, in no time.

  1. Posture- Why is this so important? Posture is extremely important so that your shoulders can turn around your spine. When your posture is stooped, your shoulders can’t turn back and through nearly as much! Turning your shoulders back and through to their full potential creates more distance. Object Lesson – Do You “Spend” Your Time Wisely?

This is an object lesson using $7 in real or play money to teach children the importance of spending time with God every day. The suggested Bible verse to reinforce the teaching is Proverbs 3:6. This article gives a suggested breakdown but feel free to adjust it according to the children you minister to.

Lesson:

Today we’re going to talk about how you can spend more time with God. To help with that, I have $7 and each dollar is going to represent 1 hour. Part of the time you spend each week is in church, Sunday School, and mid-week service so let’s set aside three dollars for that.

Now, let’s think about some things you can do by yourself to spend time with God. First, it’s a good idea to read your Bible every day, but that doesn’t mean you need to spend hours doing it. If you haven’t … Read more

Toys That Teach: A Lesson in Reverence, Gratitude and Beauty

Toys That Teach: A Lesson in Reverence, Gratitude and Beauty

A toy is something your child invests precious time in and in this way it acts as a teacher. The right toy can teach your child to care, to be watchful and conscious, to be careful, to appreciate, to love. In your child’s hands are the keys to learning to be grateful, to appreciate beauty, to have a sense of peace and reverence for life in all its forms… By the same token, the wrong toys can teach your child anger, frustration, disregard, insult and mockery. How many times have you seen this at the community playground? Children mimicking the grotesque objects they have been playing with? Making grimaces and bullying the other children. They are putting out what they have taken in, from their toys.

What can a plastic contraption possibly teach your child? What lesson is hidden within the action figure? When children have a room full of … Read more

Stock Market Lesson

If you are interested to start beginning investing, the stock market can offer tremendous returns on your investments. However, it is of utmost importance that you don’t just pick a stock(s) and buy it. Most people who do this see their investment declining in value and thus making a loss.

Beginning investors can learn from mistakes that experienced investors have made so they can avoid the common pitfalls associated with investing in the stock market. We will refer to each experience with a pitfall as a “Stock Market Lesson” since it’s basically a lesson about what not to do while stock trading. Below you will find each stock market lesson with the reasoning behind it (including some lessons which come from the most successful investor in the world, Warren Buffet).

(Many dollar stores carry play money.) The suggested Scripture verse to use is Psalm 90:12, but there are many others if you want to search a bit.

This is a suggested dialogue. Feel free to adjust it according to the children you minister to.

I have here $168.00 in play money. It just so happens that there are 168 hours in every week, so each dollar will represent one hour. How do you “spend” your time? (Count the bills as you go through the following options.)

Let’s say you get about 8 hours of sleep each night. Multiply 8 hours times 7 days and you get 56 hours. Let’s set aside $56 from our stack.

Next comes school. Let’s say … Read more

It’s OK to Touch – A Fun Bible Object Lesson for Your Kids

Remember hearing this from your parents when you were growing up: “Don’t touch that! You might break it!” As parents, we direct our children to keep their hands off of lots of things when they are young, but they should always be encouraged to touch Jesus. Here is a fun Bible object lesson centered on the story of Jesus healing the woman who touched the hem of His garment and was healed. You can find this passage in Luke 8:40-56.

Here’s what you do:

The objects you will use for this lesson will be an iron, a toaster and a cactus. It would also be helpful to bring in a man’s robe to your class. Place all the objects on a table for the children to see.

Ask the following questions to help stimulate discussion:

1. What is this first object? (Point to the iron.) (Wait for response. Proceed to … Read more
