A Basic Golf Swing Lesson For Increasing Distance

Here’s a simple golf swing lesson to increase distance for your driver and irons. Let’s break this lesson down into 3 parts, each as important as the previous. Putting all 3 things together will have you hitting the ball further, and straighter, in no time.

  1. Posture- Why is this so important? Posture is extremely important so that your shoulders can turn around your spine. When your posture is stooped, your shoulders can’t turn back and through nearly as much! Turning your shoulders back and through to their full potential creates more distance. So, make sure you are bent at the waist with a straighter back and keep your chin up just a bit.
  2. Alignment Of The Shoulders- Turn your shoulders so they are aligned more to the target line. This is very important. The alignment of the shoulders is basically aligning your swing path. Having everything in line with the intended target allows for more power with less effort. You will hit shots straight on the sweet spot, instead of a glancing blow.
  3. Align Your Feet To The Right- This is a good way to promote more distance with your swing. If you aim your feet to the right, then you are promoting a more inside to out swing path, which creates more distance. When you swing inside to out, you are wasting less effort, and the natural power of your body weight is more behind the club, increasing distance.

Adding all 3 of these tips together will give you more distance. Each tip is just as important than the previous so use them all at once and you’ll have a better chance of ripping it farther and straighter next time you’re on the course.
