Tech coaches in schools Epson

Why We Need Tech Coaches in Our Schools

Do you have a tech coach or dedicated IT specialist in your school? These individuals can be livesavers when it comes to learning new technology, fixing mishaps, and understanding what works best for teachers. We asked our teacher audience how their tech coaches help them in the classroom. Beverly T. summed up our appreciation for these tech heroes when complimenting her tech coach, saying, “She’s extremely helpful, talks us through tech issues, fixes devices, helps us understand technology, and teaches us how to use it. She’s 100% all in.”

Some schools have made the unfortunate decision to eliminate tech positions, leaving teachers to fend for themselves. Tech coaches should be an integral part of schools, allowing teachers to focus on their classrooms and call for technology help and training when it is needed. Technology issues and training are a piece of the puzzle that teachers shouldn’t have to be responsible

Thinking about NAEP in Colorado and the Denver Public Schools

Hi Van.

Although I’ve admired your work for years, you and I have never met, which means that we don’t have a relationship to lean into. Seth Godin reminds me that ‘if your audience isn’t listening, it’s your fault, not theirs.’ So please take this post as a very-public apology for whatever anger or defensiveness I sparked by my tweet. I’m sure that it could have been worded more artfully, and I regret not phrasing it in a way that maybe would have been received better. I offer this longer-form blog post as an attempt to bypass the lack of nuance available in 280 Twitter characters. I tend to do much of my thinking out loud in front of others,

82 COVID-19 cases in Jacksonville public schools in first week

Nyasia Mclean, 12, closes her eyes tightly as she is given her COVID-19 vaccine Saturday by Brianna Tuzo at Jacksonville's Wayman Temple AME Church. The church offered $25 gift cards for young people 12 to 25 years old to get the vaccination. With classes back in session, Duval County Public Schools reported 82 cases of the virus during the first week.

Eighty-two cases of COVID-19 among students and faculty were reported by Duval County Public Schools following the first week back in class.

According to the district’s COVID-19 dashboard — which documents cases that impact the campus, not all cases — 16 cases were among faculty and staff while 66 were students.

In 24 hours, the number of cases jumped by 35. Some community members worry it may be a sign of things to come

Data shows the majority of cases — 74 percent — were reported at elementary schools, which also house the highest number of students who are too young to be vaccinated. COVID-19 vaccines are available to people 12 or older.

Still, district-reported data shows that no one school houses more than three cases currently. Cedar Hills Elementary, Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, Hogan-Spring Glen Elementary, Lone Star Elementary, Pickett Elementary and Twin Lakes Elementary have

COVID-19 outbreaks reported at 26 Illinois schools, weeks after classes start | Govt-and-politics

Gov. J.B. Pritzker stresses the importance of COVID-19 vaccinations during a news conference Thursday.

More than two dozen Illinois schools are reporting COVID-19 outbreaks, weeks after students returned to the classroom for in-person learning at fully reopened schools.

The Illinois Department of Public Health on Tuesday listed 26 Illinois schools with COVID-19 outbreaks, including several in the suburban Chicago areas of Cook, Lake, Kane and Will counties.

While a few schools reporting outbreaks have been put on probation by the state for flouting Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s school mask mandate, most of the recent outbreaks are at school districts that are complying with the executive order, including Glenbrook Elementary School in Streamwood, which reported between 11 and 16 related cases of COVID-19.

“Due to a COVID outbreak in a fourth/fifth split grade level classroom, we shifted to Distance Learning for this

Whitfield County Schools’ STAR college student ‘on a entire other level’

Aug. 17—Alex Defalco, Whitfield County Schools’ 2020-21 STAR university student, excelled in all of her programs for 4 many years, but she truly shines in math.

Defalco, Coahulla Creek Superior School’s valedictorian for the class of 2021, “made an impression on me from working day 1 freshman yr, and it was apparent she’d be a standout student,” explained Josh Deslattes, who taught Defalco math her freshman, sophomore and junior years. “She has an potential to really comprehend and realize math not quite a few learners have.”

The STAR (University student Instructor Accomplishment Recognition) application is sponsored by the Experienced Affiliation of Georgia Educators (Page) and the Site Foundation. Each individual STAR student chooses a STAR teacher to share in the recognition, and Defalco selected Deslattes.

Deslattes is an outstanding trainer for the reason that “he pushes us, and he will not sugarcoat nearly anything,” Defalco explained. “He gets us to
