College Football Week 7 Top Games

Appalachian State @ Louisiana

Odds will be placed here once they are released.

It’s a rematch of the 2019 Sun Belt Championship Game in Lafayette on a Tuesday night. Appalachian State had one of the best scoring offense and scoring defense splits last season, ranking in the top 30 in both categories in 2020; they hung their hat on one of the most effective running games, posting nearly 265 team ground yards per game (sixth).

Louisiana has been one of the best rushing teams over the past few years, though their 2020 number dropped a bit behind Levi Lewis’ 19 passing touchdowns. ULL has to replace their running back corps that was made up of first team All-Sun Belt selection Elijah Mitchell and second team All-Sun Belt selection Trey Ragas.

We can expect this game to be one of efficient run games and plenty of defense. The Mountaineers may get the nod after landing former Clemson backup Chase Brice in the transfer portal.

Miami (FL) @ North Carolina ()

This game may just be the marquee ACC matchup that doesn’t involve Clemson this season. North Carolina is a favorite among analysts to take a major jump forward after finishing 13th in the final 2020 CFP poll. Sam Howell faces a Miami defense that ranked 65th nationally in passing yards allowed (233.9 yards per game), but has to pace the Tar Heels against another Heisman hopeful, D’Eriq King.

King led the Hurricanes in the direction of a bounce-back season where they finished 22nd in the CFP poll (at one point, they ranked seventh). For another season, expectations weight heavy on Miami; many project them to finish in the top 15. the Canes have finished above their preseason ranking just once in the past ten seasons (2017– finished 13th after being ranked 18th preseason).

This game may turn into a wild shootout that proves to be one of the more entertaining matchups in the ACC this season.

Central Florida @ Cincinnati ()

Cincinnati proved their worth in 2020 and grace the top games list once again. UCF was one of the most explosive teams for years now, firmly establishing themselves as a power in the American. Their new annual series with Cincinnati has become one of great interest, with the series tied at three games apiece; the last two seasons saw the Bearcats take both games but by only three points each time.

Their 2021 installment might be for all of the AAC marbles. Despite being at the midway point of the season, this game holds monumental consequences. It pits one of the nation’s most explosive offense (UCF– 8th in scoring, 4th in passing, 2nd in total offense nationally) against one of the nation’s best defenses (Cincinnati– 8th in scoring, 13th in rushing, 13th in total defense nationally).

Get ready for fireworks in Cincinnati this season– this is one of the hands-down best matchups of the season.
