The Holy Family Knights of Columbus Chapter of Red Lake County will sponsor a Junior Golf Tournament on Monday, July 26 with at 9:00 a.m. shotgun start at the Oak Knolls Golf Course in Red Lake Falls. Entry fee is $10, nine hole groups $5. Entry fee includes all-you-can-eat lunch. There will be 4 age groups for boys. Ages 15-17, 13-14, and 11-12 will play 18 holes. 10 and under will play 9 holes. For the girls, the number of entrants will determine age brackets. Medal play in all age groups. Prizes and trophies will be awarded. There will be numerous door prizes, putting contest plus other contests throughout the course. The Minnesota State Parks Library Program offers community members the opportunity to visit any state park or recreation area in Minnesota without paying an entrance fee. The pass provides access to parks around the state for seven days and is now available at the Crookston Public Library, with two passes available per week. Twig and Branch Collection will be held on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, running May through October. Place the materials on your curbside. Branches must be cut in four-foot lengths and bundled for the crews to take them away. Any branches or tree trunks not cut to this length and bundled will be left for the owner to haul away. Twigs may be in boxes or bags. Individuals removing their diseased elm trees should call City Hall to schedule a pickup. Please note that leaves, grass, and other compostable material must be in the clear City of Crookston bags and will be collected on your regular garbage collection day.
In partnership with the United Way of Crookston, Crookston Public Schools will be offering free grab-and-go summer meals for all children from Highland Elementary School this summer. The program will run every Monday-Thursday from June 7 – July 29. Meals will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm.
