McNeese State College is partnering with nearby high universities to present a new system and scholarship aimed at recruiting male teachers of color. “Call Me Mister” will begin in the university’s training section this fall giving scholarships to males of coloration intrigued in elementary training.
“This is a expand-your- individual-teacher effort and hard work,” Terri Simpson, Middle for the Improvement of High-quality Education director, stated. “Two per cent of the nation’s teachers are males of coloration though our inhabitants is like 47 percent. There’s a mismatch there. Study proves college students do improved when they are taught by a person like them.”
